Machakos County Government is in the process of constructing four stadiums which will help reduce youth idleness.
The stadiums will have a youth academy building and a social hall which will be essential in engaging the youth.
“Currently, the state of idleness among our youth is a matter of great concern. As a country, we have to come up with programs and projects to provide our youth opportunities and also keep them busy,” Dr Mutua tweeted.
The governor plans on constructing nine new stadiums by the end of this year. After which, Machakos county will be able host international football events such as the World Cup.
Dr. Mutua has termed youth unemployment as a “ticking time bomb”. To craft a proper strategy, the Machakos Governor has directed his staff from the Ministry of Youth to do a study in the county.
” I have directed my ministry of youth, together with other departments to start collecting data of the actual number of youth who are unemployed, their skill levels and income. This will help me plan better for them,” the Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader said.
