Nairobi femicide vigil in pictures

A femicide vigil was held on Thursday at Nairobi University to condemn the rampant killings of Kenyan women and girls.

Women leaders and politicians attended the event and honored the victims of femicide.

Families of femicide victims shared their cries of justice asking the government to ensure perpetrators are held accountable.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang‘i was the chief guest at the event and he also called for an end to the killings.

“Let us join a spirit of reform and bring an end to this madness. As a government we are making investments to ensure cases are reported and investigated,” said Matiang’i

Ida Odinga who was also at the event said that she is glad the femicide issue is finally getting attention and being addressed by top leaders of the country.

At the event 40 relatives of victims of the femicide gave their testimonies calling for justice as they emphasized that every life matters.
