Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula has asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to stop pretending and attend to Kenya’s deteriorating relationship with Somalia.
Wetangula said leaders should be careful not to let Kenya’s relationship with Somalia worsen.
He said Kenya risked opening itself up to powerful forces that would take advantage of the stand off and hurt the country.
The senator asked Uhuru to visit Somalia and have bilateral talks with the country’s president.
According to conflict analyst Fred Oluoch, this feud will hinder Kenya’s fight against terrorism and increase the threats of terrorists in both countries.
The impact of the conflict is already being felt as on Monday Kenya banned fishing off the Coast and near the Somalia border due to security fears.
Lamu County Commissioner told Nation that fishing activities have been prohibited near the areas of Ras Kamboni and Kiunga town.
