Amani National Congress Political (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi has openly declared that he is the opposition leader in the country.
The National Super Alliance (NASA) co-founder said that his role as an opposition leader is not necessarily to fight the government but to highlight issues affecting the common mwananchi.
Since March 9, 2019, the presence of an opposition party in Kenya has not been really felt in the Kenyan political scene. This is due to the ‘handshake’ that was exchanged by President Uhuru Kenyatta and NASA party leader, Raila Odinga.
“As a result of the President and Hon Raila not demystifying the handshake. Members of the minority possibly think — whether real or imagined — that challenging the government is synonymous with challenging the handshake,” Wiper Democratic Party vice-chairman Mutula Kilonzo Jr told the Daily Nation newspaper.
Though speaking in a lone voice, Mudavadi has said that he is ready to point out wrongdoings with the citizens’ interests at heart.
