Deputy President William Ruto has pledged to support the family that lost their 7-year-old Sidney Mambala who was ran over by one of the vehicles carrying the DP’s Press team.
On Friday, Ruto and his team were leaving Butula in Busia county where he had addressed pupils and parents of St Benedict’s Budalangi and Kingandole Secondary Schools when the incident happened.
Class one pupil Sydney is said to have developed serious breathing complications after being hit.
“After knocking down the boy, the Deputy President security personnel prevented a Good Samaritan from picking him up and instead placed him by the roadside,” a witness said.
The parents of the boy had to come and rush him to hospital.
Police have launched investigation into the case.
