The father of the 7-year-old Sydney Mambala, who was knocked by Deputy President William Ruto’s convoy in Budalang’i on Saturday is calling for justice.
Felix Mambala said he wants justice for his son adding that the Deputy President assured him that he will support him.
The DP’s director of communications Emmanuel Talam said investigations will be done.
“The Deputy President told me to be calm and that the matter will be handled,” said Felix.
Ruto and Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong have sent condolence messages to the family of the standard one pupil.
The accident happened in Budalang’i outside St Benedict’s Secondary School, Busia County.
Sydney was knocked down by a vehicle belonging to Ruto’s press team after his address at St Benedicts Budalang’i High School .
He was rushed to Port Victoria, sub-county hospital where he succumbed to his injuries at 9pm on Saturday.
Ruto had gone to launch various projects including the Lower Nzoia Irrigation scheme and Sisenye water plant.
The Sh10 billion Lower Nzoia project involves expansion of the land under rice irrigation to boost food security and rehabilitation of dykes to control flooding.
