African teams are off to a bad start at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The tournament kicked off in France on Friday, June 7, as the host nation played South Korea in Paris.
France beat South Korea 4-0 as Spain had an easy time with a 3-0 win against South Africa on Saturday.
Germany silenced China 1-0 as African favorites Nigeria was thrashed by Norway 3-0.
South Africa played Spain but the African team only managed to score one goal against Spain’s 3 goals.
On Sunday June 9, the Italians managed to clinch a 2-1 Victory over Australia while Brazil overcame Caribbean island Jamaica with a 3-0 win.
Twenty-four nations will battle it out for the right to take home the most coveted trophy in the sport.
The defending champions are the United States of America but Brazil, England and hosts France are tipped as the tournament favorites.
