IAAF rebrands to capture wide audience

The International Association of Athletics Federation(IAAF) on Sunday announced plans to rebrand in a bid to attract a wider and youthful audience.

IAAF will rebrand to World Athletics as from October 2019.

Sebastian Coe the current president of IAAF said the change of name will come with restructuring of the athletics’ governing body.

“We have reorganized and restructured the organization to give a more creative and positive face to the sports,” said Coe.

Coe said his team hoped the rebranding will attract and engage the younger generation in athletics

IAAF CEO Jon Ridgeons said the new symbol will enable the body work independently with partners and events.

IAAF on Sunday also upheld the ban on Russia saying the country will not be allowed to compete in international athletics due to doping.
