The Marine Forecasting Office has predicted strong winds and high seas along the Kenyan coast between June 10 to 16, 2019.
Fishermen have been asked to be cautious during this time.
Winds are expected to be southerlies with the speeds of 12 to 17m/s. Swells up to 3.0m near shore and waves 3m high sea are expected.
“The sea conditions are expected to be disastrous to small crafts such as fishing boats, surf boats and kayaks,” Director of Kenya Meteorological Department Services stated.
The condition is expected to persist until 11pm on 16th June.
Sea accidents have been recorded in the past along the Kenyan coast. In April this year, a fishermen boat capsized in the Indian ocean of the Lamu coast killing two people.
In 2018, another fisherman boat capsized where two fishermen were rescued and two others have never been found up to date.
