Two Safaricom employees charged with attempt to steal Sh300 million

Two Safaricom employees who were allegedly planning to defraud the company a total of Sh300 million have been charged at Millimani Law Courts, Daily Nation has reported.

Simon Billy Kinuthia and Brian Njoroge had been accused of illegally acquiring a subscriber’s personal data from the company’s data and sharing it with an unauthorized person. The data was transferred to Charles Njuguna Kimani between May 1 and June 7, 2019.

The two suspects were also accused of intending to steal Sh300 million from Safaricom.

The two Safaricom employees were offered a Sh1 million cash bail each after they denied the charges made against them.

Their case will be heard again on July 16, 2019.
