Jentrix Kanga 19, from Kakamega put up her baby for sale for Sh120,000 after the baby-daddy allegedly blocked her number and shifted from his residence.
The estranged baby-daddy whom Jentrix identifies only as Ken from Kayole left the schoolgirl to raise up their now 3 month baby on her own.
Reports indicate that a nurse at Musanda Health Centre in Kakamega where the teenage girl delivered, had promised to help her look for someone to buy the child after she explained her predicament.
Jentrix’s mother, Roseline Isendi 38 supported her daughter’s decision and together they embarked on the mission.
A villager in the Eshisiru village in Lurambi sub-county, however, tipped off the police who sent a Canadian national posing as a client.
Mother and daughter were arrested and charged for conspiring to sell a baby on June 6.
The two denied the charges when they appeared before Kakamega chief Magistrate Bildad Ochieng’ on Friday.
They were granted Sh100,000 bond, with surety of the same amount or Sh50,000 cash bail.
The matter will be mentioned on June 21, and heard on August 13.
