Egerton University has come out to defend its Sh70 million security complex.
This even as some Kenyans castigated the university over what they term a wastage of money and trying to cover up for misappropriation of funds.
Others questioned Egerton’s priorities, asking whether the management had invested as heavily in matters education.
In a rebuttal, a section of the institution’s students feel that the university has been undergoing some security challenges and the gate will go a long way in enhancing security and protecting students.
Some added that the security complex will also host shops that will boost the institution’s agribusiness while others simply praised the gates aesthetics.
In its Twitter page, Egerton university explained how the complex is part of its collaboration with the Nakuru County Government and the National Government to improve on security.
They also said that the complex represents the University in terms of its vision, mission, and core values.
