Eunice Atieno, the woman who sold roasted maize to Deputy President Dr. William Ruto on Sunday has come out to say that she fears for her life after the DP handed her Sh10,000.
Atieno says that her neighbours spread rumours that she was given Sh300,000 making her a target for every needy person around her.
“I don’t have peace in my house. People say I received more money and I should not be out here selling roasted maize,” she said
On that day, Atieno was going about her business as usual when she saw motorbikes pass and then a convoy of SUV’s stopped some few meters away from her business. A group of people disembarked from the SUV’s and started moving towards her.
“I was afraid and I wanted to run away but then I saw the Deputy President and decided to stay. He greeted me and told me he wanted to buy my maize. He then dug into his pocket and removed seven thousand and said that amount could not buy the maize and went on to add three thousand to make it ten thousand shillings,” Eunice said
In an interview with NTV, Eunice has requested that the DP provide her with security since she fears being targeted by robbers.
