50 people whose homes in Ongata Rongai were destroyed to pave way for the expansion of the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) visited the National Lands Commission on Monday to seek their compensation.
Citizen TV reports that the compensation money has been frozen by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) due to the inflation of the estimate prices.
On June 14, several houses were demolished in Nkoroi area in Rongai to give room for the expansion of the SGR.
Though a notice to move had been issued, home owners had not been compensated and hence they could not move.
Bulldozers went ahead to render those on the SGR reserve land homeless.
