Kenya is Ebola-free, says CS Kariuki after tests on Kericho patient

The CS for Health Sicily Kariuki has confirmed that the woman suspected to have had Ebola is free from the disease.

Kariuki said the rapid surveillance and response team which has been set up has examined the patient who is in stable condition and does not fit the case definition of Ebola.

The 36-year-old had traveled from Malaba town on the Kenya-Uganda border and presented herself on June 16, 2019, to a health facility in Kericho after experiencing symptoms of headache, a fever, and vomiting.

“Allow me to confirm to Kenyans that the patient does not meet the case definition of Ebola,” Kariuki said.

I wish to reassure all Kenyans and our visitors that we do not have any cases of Ebola and indeed, the ministry has undertaken and continues to implement the preparedness measures.

The full results of the same are expected by 4pm this evening.
