Mvita residents fix broken sewer after calls to county officials fell on deaf ears

Residents of Simu ya Upepo Road in Mvita constituency, Mombasa took matters into their own hands to solve an emerging health risk caused by a leaking sewer pipe.

The leaking pipe filled a trench just outside residential homes with stagnant stinking sewage water for months, posing a health risk to residents.

It is alleged that the trench was as a result of a stalled project by the Mombasa county government.

The residents were forced to solve the problem by blocking the leaking pipe.

They accused area MP Nassir Abdullswamad Sheriff and Mombasa County government of not taking any action despite numerous complaints.
