The US Embassy has announced that it shall not accept the new currency notes for visa applications until necessary procedures are put in place.
Through a circular released on Tuesday June 18, the embassy advised consular applicants to pay for services with the old notes or credit cards .
“Until these procedures are in place, consular applicants will only be able to pay for services using the previous Kenyan shillings. You may also continue to pay by credit card. “ Statement read.
The new development came barely a week after Tanzania and Uganda governments suspended conversion of Kenyan shilling in a bid to shield its banks from money laundering.
