Truly, love is a beautiful thing and Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has found her lover and best friend in one.
She said yes to her lover Kamotho Waiganjo at a traditional engagement ceremony, known as a ruraciio in the Kikuyu culture. It happened on February 16, 2019.
A few weeks later, Mr Waiganjo went down on one knee and surprised her with the big question. He asked the governor’s hand in marriage at the luxurious Lord Eroll Hotel in Nairobi.
The couple will be tying the knot in a Kikuyu traditional wedding ceremony known as Ngurario. This ceremony does not have to take place in church, it happens before the woman can be allowed to go to the man’s place.
This ceremony begins with the slaughtering of an animal that is provided by the soon-to-be mother-in-law. The woman is taken and becomes part of her husband’s family once the ceremony is done.
They will officially be husband and wife on July 13, 2019 at Kiamugumo primary school in Kirinyaga County.
Congratulations to the new love birds in town!
