Police in Nyahururu are holding a man for allegedly killing his wife following a domestic dispute.

Confirming the incident, Kiambogo location Chief Philip Korir said the man was arrested on Tuesday by members of the public as he fled.

Henry Kosgei, stabbed his wife Mercy Talam as she prepared food.

The two had quarreled earlier in the day and while the wife was preparing food, Kosgei entered the kitchen and hit her with a wooden object. She collapsed and died on the spot.

It was believed that the man wanted to commit suicide after the act because he was arrested while in possession of a rope.

“During his arrest they found him running away with a rope which we suspect that he was going to use to commit suicide,” said Korir.

The body of the deceased was taken to Nyahururu County Referral Hospital.
