Women leaders leaning towards Deputy President William Ruto have formed a group named ‘Inua Mama, Jenga Taifa’.
The ‘Inua Mama’ group is led by Kandara MP Alice Wahome and has linked itself to the ‘Tangatanga’ wing of the Jubilee administration.
This group’s structure and duties are in line with the ‘Embrace’ movement.
However, unlike ‘Embrace’ which supports the Handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, ‘Inua Mama’ is advocating for Ruto’s presidential bid.
Politicians have even termed the group as the female version of ‘Tangatanga’ and ‘Kieleweke’.
The women in ‘Embrace’ team have a dress theme colour of white and pink while the women in ‘Inua Mama’ put on the theme of red.
The ‘Inua Mama’ team has accused ‘Embrace’ of utilizing government resources in its rallies.
Politicians are also asking where the two teams are getting the funding to conduct their activities.
‘Embrace’ is led by Youth and Gender Affairs Chief Administrative Secretary Rachel Shebesh and Homa Bay Woman Representative Gladys Wanga.
The ‘Inua Mama’ faction has held rallies in Malindi and West Pokot while the ‘Embrace’ movement has held rallies in Nairobi, Baringo, and Murang’a.
