‘Team Kieleweke’ dismiss DP Ruto’s claims of death threats

A section of Mt Kenya region leaders now claims that Deputy President William Ruto’s alleged assassination plot is just but propaganda.

The Members of Parliament commonly referred to as ‘Kieleweke’ alleged that Ruto only wants to incite the nation against people from the Central region of Kenya.

The MPs said this on Monday afternoon outside Parliament buildings.

Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu said Ruto’s allegations were an attack on Cabinet Secretaries (CS) as ‘his aim is to intimidate them from doing their job’.

“We should let the CSs do their jobs and if we have party problems then we should fight among ourselves as politicians or members of Jubilee party.

Kiambu Woman Representative Gathoni Wamuchomba also dismissed Ruto’s claims, adding that if he really felt threatened he should have recorded a statement with the DCI as protocol directs.

According to the DCI officer in charge of this matter, Ruto only called him claiming his life was in danger but has not recorded a statement.

CSs Sicily Kariuki (Health), Peter Munya (Trade) and Joe Mucheru (ICT) were accused a of plotting to kill the Ruto in a series of meetings at Hotel La Mada .

Munya confirmed that they have been meetings at La Mada, but to sort out development issues for the people of Mt Kenya region.

“We have made it clear that at no time have we ever met anywhere not just in La Mada but anywhere else to plan to kill the DP of the Republic of Kenya or any other person for that matter,” Munya said.

Wamuchomba asked Ruto not to ‘spread lies’ among people in the name of politics.

“We’re not here to defend evil; if there is evil let it be known to be evil, but let’s not peddle lies in the name of politics.
