JKIA operations restored after radar failure grounded planes

The Kenya Airports Authority has said operations at JKIA have been restored after a radar failure that saw flights delayed.

Flights were being diverted to Mombasa and Kisumu airports after the loss of signals and communication with pilots.

The radar system was down since 5pm making it impossible for planes to land or take off, the Kenya Airports Authority has confirmed.

“We would like to confirm delayed flight operations at JKIA this evening due to a technical hitch with the civil aviation navigation systems(ATC),” KAA said.
