The Safaricom PLC share prices at the Nairobi Stock Exchange (NSE) on Monday rose by 0.15 per cent despite news of the passing away of the company’s CEO, Robert William Collymore.
Although the share price dropped by 0.75 per cent during the day, about 4.8 million shares were sold by the end of the day. The Safaricom share price closed at Sh28.15.
This means that Safaricom shareholders are still confident in the current leadership.
In a press briefing on Monday, the Safaricom Board Chairman Nicholas Ng’ang’a assured Kenyans that the company will not go down as the board fully understands its vision. He said the board will continue advancing Collymore’s vision for the company.
“The company is in good hands and will continue to offer all the services that he (Bob Collymore) has been offering to our great country,”Ng’ang’a said in a press briefing on Monday.
Bob Collymore succumbed to Acute Myeloid Leukemia on Monday at his home in Nairobi. He had battled with the disease for about two years.
