The Secretary for Innovation, Digital and Diaspora Communication in the Office of the President Dennis Itumbi has been arrested.
Itumbi has been arrested in connection to the fake Deputy President William Ruto assassination letter.
He was arrested at the Central Business District on Wednesday and bundled into a police car by flying squad officers. Itumbi was then taken to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations headquarters for questioning.
On Sunday, reports emerged that DCI officials were seeking two Ruto communication aides for circulating the Ruto assassination letter.
Itumbi dismissed the media reports and said that their story was inaccurate.
“They mentioned where the communication officers allegedly being sought after. We are about 10. None of us got a call or a text. Copy and paste journalism from unnamed sources who lie, should not find a home,” Itumbi said on Monday.
The DCI officials, however, said that it was only a matter of time before they exposed the author of the letter.
“We are pretty confident that we are about to find those behind the letter. All we can tell you is that no cabinet secretary wrote the letter,” a DCI officer investigating the case said.
