A man identified as Moses Mudavadi Akwoni has accused Shalom Hospital of leaving a bandage inside his wife Emmaculate Maruti Tsumbave’s womb.
While sharing the story with Activist Boniface Mwangi’s Facebook page, Sema Ukweli, Akwoni says that his wife delivered through the cesarian section at the hospital in Athi River, Machakos County.
Two weeks after leaving the hospital, his wife began experiencing severe abdominal pains. He took her back to the same facility numerous times as the pains persisted and even begged the doctors to admit her as he was concerned.
The doctors, however, refused to keep her in the hospital and diagnosed her with H-pyloric, further putting her under medication.
When the pains resurfaced, he took his wife to Kenyatta National Hospital where the scans and X-rays showed an object lodged in her left side.
The wife underwent surgery during which the doctors removed a large piece of bandage, which had damaged her intestines.
Akwoni further alleges that he has been receiving threats from the employees of the hospital and was even forced to delete a social media post he had made out of the situation.
Shalom Hospital made headlines for all the wrong reasons and was shut down on May 6 following the death of a seven-month-old baby boy after he was allegedly injected at the facility for treatment of a burn.
It is at the same facility where a woman gave birth on the hospital floor as nurses enjoyed tea, causing furore on social media.
