Mike Sonko jerks up parking fees to Sh400 to decongest the streets

Parking fees in Nairobi will be increased to KSh400 as per the new proposal that was released on Thursday.

It has been doubled because they want to reduce traffic congestion in the Central Business District and boost the county revenue collection.

The Nairobi County government will also introduce parking charges in residential areas. Motorists will pay Sh200. It is not yet clear if MCAs will approve the proposal.

The parking fees for non-commercial buses will be, KSh1,000 while the trucks are being charged KSh3,000.

This is for specifically while in the Central Business District. When in the residential areas, the motorists are required to pay half.
