Due to the wide coverage of the census, 164,700 people will be recruited to do census throughout the country, the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) has said.
Three categories of census personnel will be recruited – 2,700 ICT supervisors, 27,000 content supervisors, and 135,000 enumerators.
“The personnel have to be from the counties that they are going to work in so in our planning we have the county census committee that is responsible for the recruitment,” the Director General of KNBS, Zachary Mwangi said.
Mr Mwangi said that during the recruitment, affirmative action will be taken into account.
“We will look at the issue about the youth, gender, marginalized groups and also persons with disability,” the KNBS Director-General noted.
The interviews and shortlisting will be finalized by the end of the week.
After the candidates are selected, the trainers will be trained. Then the trainers will train the ICT supervisors who will then train the content supervisors.
The content supervisors will then train the enumerators. That whole process will get completed by August 21, 2019.
