The Betting Control and Licensing Board (BCLB) on Tuesday announced the suspension of the licences of betting companies in the country, among them Sportpesa and Betin.

According to the BCLB, these firms have to ensure they are tax-compliant before their operating licenses are renewed.

The Kenyan government seems to be cracking a tough whip at betting firms in the country after placing tough regulations which the betting firms have to implement.

Other companies listed are Betway, Betpawa, Easybet, Elitebet, Eastleighbet, Kickoff, Bungabet, Betboss, Betyetu, Hatari boss, and Kenya Sport Bet.

According to Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, the government is doing this in a bid to maximize the taxes gotten from the betting firms.
