British Airways has issued a warning to all passengers flying to any destination not to indicate their destination on their luggage tags.
The United Kingdom flag carrier that also has direct flights to Nairobi said drug peddlers and other criminals may secretly stash drugs and loot in the passenger’s luggage.
“If you clear with immigration, they will come to your address to get them from you. If you fail immigration check, say goodbye to freedom as you sit behind bars.”
British Airways recommend that one indicates just the contact number and email on the luggage tag and if it goes missing, the airline would call or email them.
The airline has also revealed that criminals can scan the QR code of boarding pass and get the full name of the owner and other details. “Do not leave boarding pass as rubbish in the passenger seat pockets,” the airline cautioned.
The criminals could also steal passenger’s mileage points, the airways noted.
