Here are the reasons why you don’t have to react to everything that bothers you in life according to Rania Raim, a relationship counsellor.

  1. It drains your life
    The energy it takes to react to every bad thing that happens to you drains you and stops you from seeing the other good things in life.
  2. It wastes your time
    Trying so hard to ‘win’ everyone is just a waste of time and energy and it fills you with nothing but emptiness.
  3. It helps you to be in control
    When you chose not to react, then it means you are choosing to rise above mediocrity.
    It shows that you don’t need people to approve you so that you can feel great or appreciated.
  4. The situation might not be your fault
    Most of the time, these situations say nothing about you and a lot about the other person.
    If you react, it won’t change anything, it won’t make people suddenly love and respect you, it won’t magically change their minds.
  5. It is an ingredient to living a happy and healthy life
    Life is better lived when you don’t centre it on what’s happening around you and centre it on what’s happening inside you instead.
  6. It helps in building relationships
    Withholding your comment after being pissed off, brings conciliatory attitude because it’s much easier for everyone to deal with a calm person than a hostile, defensive one.
