Residents of Nairobi’s Thome estate woke up to terrible news of four bodies belonging to one family found dead in their house.
Mwangi Mugo, the Nyumba Kumi chairman in Thome, alleged that the wife hacked her husband, went on to strangle her two children — aged 12 and 3 — then turned hanged herself.
The chairman said the couple has been having recurrent domestic disputes. The deceased husband had apparently reported to the chief several times that the wife beat him severally, according to Mr Mugo.
Upon instruction by the chief to report his wife’s violence to the police, the husband would not heed the advice, the chairman added.
The alleged killer wife is said to be a food vendor at a construction site while the husband was a casual laborer.
Kasarani police boss Peter Kimani said they want to establish if there was any other party that was involved in the murder.
He said they had not established the motive of the incident.
