Nairobi Women Representative Esther Passaris has come under fire from Kenyans on Twitter after she told people to think twice the next time they go and vote for her.
In a series of Twitter rants, Passaris castigates Kenyans, telling them they expected too much from her, adding that she is unable to fix everything as demanded by citizens.
She was reacting to a question from a tweep who had inquired about her progress so far as a leader and the institutional changes she had proposed for Nairobi.
The genesis of the entire debacle was the legislator’s answer when someone asked her about the proposal by MPs to have their allowances increased.
Passaris seemed to justify the move, stating that members of parliament need to be empowered to handle needy social issues.
The post might have implied that sometimes, MPs are required to help needy constituents using money from their own pockets further adding that she will not say no to extra cash.
Her tweets elicited fury from Kenyans who showed their disapproval of her hostility and choice of words.
Some even went as far as vowing not to vote her in, come the next elections.
Kenyans called out greed and selfishness from members of parliament who are demanding for a salary rise of a whopping Sh2.9 million from the current Sh1.1 million.
