Algeria and Senegal set to battle it out again, in AFCON finals

The curtains are about to close on Africa’s biggest football tournament, AFCON 2019 with a repeat showdown of Algeria Vs Senegal in the final match.

The Lions of Teranga managed a win against Tunisia after an own goal scored by Dylan Bronn in a match played on Sunday in Cairo.

Both teams missed penalties in regular time with Ferjani Sassi failing to convert the penalty as Henri Saivet failed for the Senegalese.

The two nations have met five times before in the Cup of Nations with each winning one match and the other three drawn.

Another Sunday semi-final clash saw Nigeria’s Super Eagles outwitted by the Desert Foxes of Algeria 2-1.

The Foxes got the first goal after an own goal from William Troost-Ekong. The Super Eagles, however, seemed to make a comeback as Odion Ighalo scored through a penalty.

Nigeria’s fans were heartbroken as a late direct free-kick from Manchester City’s and Algeria’s star Riyad Mahrez took Algeria through.

The Group C mates are now set to battle it out again on Friday, July 19 at the Cairo International Stadium. In their group stages meeting played in June 27, Algeria managed a 1-0 win after a Youcef Belaili’s stunner.

All eyes are now on the two teams scheduled for a repeat match, as the Foxes seek a repeat the victory and the Lions fight for a win.
