Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has said the Pangani tenants who were evicted on Monday night will not be compensated.
Sonko claims that some of the tenants refused the Sh600,000 his administration offered for alternative renting as he embarks in constructing housing units according to the Big Four Agenda.
The governor has challenged the evictees to go to court.
Through a Twitter post, Sonko said this in response to a question from someone known as Juma G. who had questioned him about the midnight evictions of Pangani tenants.
Sonko’s administration seeks to construct 200,000 housing units in the county. Pangani was identified as the first zone to kick off the project.
The governor says he issued cheques of sh600, 000 on May for each Pangani county tenant to find an alternative rental until the houses are complete.
