Former KTN anchor Esther Arunga captured everyone’s attention when she admitted that she lied about her son’s death.

An autopsy revealed her son passed on as a result of a severe blunt force like punching and the injuries were inconsistent with a fall. She has currently been released on parole after been sentenced for 10 months.

Here are some of the things you probably did not know about her:


The 38-year-old had seven siblings, who include a twin brother.

Career and education

The ex-TV anchor seemed to be a smart student because of where she was educated. Arunga studied at The Kenya High School, achieved a Bachelor’s degrees in Communication and law from the University of Wollong in New South Wales, Australia. She later returned to Kenya to do a one year course at the Kenya School of Law.

Mrs Timberlake was one of the top journalists in the country. She worked for Capital FM and KTN as a prime time news anchor. In addition to that, she was the winner of the CHAT (Chaguo la Teenies) Awards 2008, Best TV anchor/Presenter. According to Kenyan Vibe, she quit The Standard Media Group in 2010 to join Hellon for the 2012 presidential elections.

Her relationship/marriage

The Standard Media reported that she started dating Wilson Malaba in October 2009 and got engaged after two months of dating. Her engagement with Malaba lasted for four months and postponed before their planned wedding in April 2010.

Esther Arunga met Quincy Timberlake via Hellon when she joined the Finger of God. Months later they two got married.
