Modern parenting has seen parents take their children to daycares as early as 6 months old while the mothers go about their working and busy life.
However, an incident at Karagita Estate in Naivasha where a one-year-old girl died in an illegal day care has stirred up netizens who claim that modern mothers are not responsible.
According to the child’s mother, her girl died in the daycare under uncertain circumstances as she was not unwell.
The woman in charge of the daycare claimed she fed the baby and laid her to sleep only to find her unresponsive later.
The public in Karagita Estate also say they are a lot of illegal daycares in the area and most of them are unhygienic.
The residents said parents need to take care of their young children or look for certified day cares.
“Some of these women in charge of daycares are responsible for almost 20 children and work with no outside help,” Jane Wambui, a social worker told Standard Digital.
Reports also indicate most of the women running the daycares are elderly and have no formal training on child care.
