Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has spoken out about the Punguza Mzigo proposals which garnered 1 million signatures last week.
According to Khalwale, the County Assemblies will easily approve the proposals as it strongly favors them since the County Development Funds (CDF) will be under Members of County Assemblies (MCAs)
Khalwale also said the Senate will endorse the Punguza Mzigo proposals as it proposes that the Senate be elevated to an upper house with veto powers.
“The National Assembly will angrily reject the proposed amendments as it seeks to reduce their number in parliament for more than half and give power to the Senate,” said Khalwale.
According to Khalwale, the citizens have the final say on Punguza Mizigo as it will most probably be taken to a referendum level.
Political analysts have speculated that Kenyans will vote for the proposals if taken to a referendum as it has goodies for the Kenyans.
Such goodies include slashing the number of MPs by almost half, a one-term presidency, and a life sentence for corruption convicts.
