Homa Bay Member of Parliament Peter Kaluma commended President Uhuru Kenyatta for steering politics away from the war on corruption.
According to Kaluma, Treasury CS Henry Rotich is an appointee and close confidant of Uhuru since he has worked for a long time in the Jubilee government.
“When I heard CS Rotich has been arrested I knew President Uhuru has managed to depoliticise corruption as Rotich has served Jubilee gov’t for the longest time without being moved to a different ministry,” Kaluma said.
He was speaking on Tuesday at a local media house.
Kaluma also said everyone involved in fighting corruption has to follow Uhuru’s footsteps no matter how painful it will be.
“Let us take away politics, blood ties and allow these institutions in charge of the fight against graft to do their work,” said Kaluma.
“We lose about a trillion to corruption each financial year as per the Auditor General’s report. Our development has stagnated at very many fronts because of this,” Kaluma said.
“We must tighten the budgeting process. You do not need more than Sh30 billion to do a dam anywhere,” Kaluma said.
