A woman who was denied treatment at the Kenya National Hospital because she didn’t have Sh1,950 has passed on.
Esther Wambui, who was battling cervical cancer relied on her sister Gladys Mwihaki, who is a casual labourer to get treatment.
But her sister could not afford Ms Wambui’s cancer treatment because she washes people’s clothes and has three kids to fend for.
It took well-wishers’ intervention for her to be finally admitted at KNH after waiting for about two days.
Wambui finally succumbed to the disease, leaving behind a bill of Sh200,000. The family is now holding fundraisers so that her body can be released for burial from the hospital’s mortuary.
