A lot of people struggle with dry hair, either because of too much heat from the sun or during styling. It could be because of washing your hair too much or not eating right.
Below are a few steps you can take to soften your hair:
- Have a good diet
Healthline.com recommends that you take a lot of vitamins, especially those rich in A, C and Biotin. This will make your hair look and feel healthy.
Other products to include in your diet include omega 3 and anti-oxidant. Marine proteins such as salmon, oysters, mackerel, tuna and sardines are rich in omega 3. They not only make your hair softer but they make it shiny.
Anti-oxidants such as walnuts, kidney beans, blueberries, broccoli and tomatoes are also recommended. They control oxidative stress that makes hair look old.
2. Get the right oils
Some of the oils proven to increase moisture in one’s hair include coconut, lavender, peppermint, olive, jojoba, almond and Moroccan argan oils.
You could either use them one of them or even mix two or more for a better result.
Stylecraze.com recommends that you mix almond, jojoba, olive and coconut oils them, warming the mixture just a bit. After which you massage the mixture on your hair, then wrap your hair with a cloth or towel for 30 minutes. Then wash your hair with a mild shampoo.
3. Make a natural hair mask
Find natural nutrients to apply on your hair especially those that contain proteins and vitamins.
Some of the natural products that you can use to make a hair mask include: banana and avocado; egg, honey and yoghurt; honey and vegetable oil; rice, milk and honey; mayonnaise; aloe vera, yoghurt and olive oil etc.
4. Wash with cold water
Use either lukewarm or cold water to wash and rinse your hair. This helps close your cuticles thus preventing moisture loss.
5. Wear a hat
On extremely hot days, wear a hat to protect your hair from harsh sun rays.
If you don’t have a hat, make sure you apply an oil that protects your hair such as aloe vera gel.
