Well-wishers have raised Sh39,322 to help settle the bill of a woman, Esther Wambui, who died while receiving cervical cancer treatment at the Kenya National Hospital last week.

This was after Africa Uncensored called on the public to donate so as to fully settle the Sh200,000 hospital bill she left behind. Currently, Wambui’s body is still being held at KNH as her family is not financially stable to be able to clear the bill.

Shortly before Wambui died, a video went viral of the deceased and her sister Gladys Mwihaki complaining outside the hospital premises that she had been denied treatment because they lacked Sh1,950.

She was however later given treatment after help from well-wishers.

Mwihaki was the one taking care of her Wambui before she succumbed to the disease. However, Mwihaki could only be able to provide food for Wambui and her five children as she was only a casual labourer. Mwihaki earns only Sh400 from washing clothes.
