The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions wants the immediate arrest of Italian company, CMC di Ravenna officials for failing to appear before Millimani Law Court on Monday.
One of the officials being sort after is the Chief Executive Officer of CMC di Ravenna, Paolo Porcelli.
However, The Star has reported that Porcelli’s lawyer has presented an application citing why the CEO did not appear in court.
Former Kerio Valley Development Authority (KVDA) managing director David Kimosop and eight other suspects are currently at the Millimani Law Courts.
The nine have been charged with conspiracy to defraud the government of Sh19 billion for the construction of Arror and Kimwarer dam. They allegedly inflated the cost of building the dams from Sh46 billion to Sh63 billion.
Other charges include: abuse of office, conspiracy to commit an economic crime and not following procurement procedures.
One of the members of the tender committee Nelson Korir has been brought to court by his doctor. Due to his current health, Chief Magistrate Douglas Ogoti has allowed Korir to stay in hospital as the other co-accused are taken to the basement cells.
Other suspects arraigned in court regarding the dam scandal include: Jackson Njau, Titus Mureithi, Elizabeth Kebenei, Fredrick Towett, Boniface Mamboleo Lengisho, Isaac Kiiru, and Patrick Kipsang.
