Girl pleads with Margaret Kenyatta to fund her bone marrow transplant – Video

A video of a little girl from Kibwezi East, Makueni County reciting a poem to the First Lady Margaret Kenyatta has moved netizens.

In the video, the 8-year-old girl identified as Faith Mwende Mailu is heard pleading with the first lady through a Swahili poem.

The primary school pupil says she is suffering from Aplastic Anaemia, a condition that was diagnosed in 2017 and has left her entire body swollen.

“I have missed out on school because I spend a lot of time in the hospital,” she said in the poem. She further laments that she has to get regular blood transfusion, subjecting her to painful injections.

Asplastic Anemia is a condition that occurs when your body stops producing enough new cells.

Treatment options for aplastic anemia may include medications, blood transfusions or a stem cell transplant, also known as a bone marrow transplant.

This explains why the little girl is requesting for funds to travel to India for a bone marrow transplant.

Symptoms of the disease include shortness of breath, fatigue, irregular heart rate, pale skin, skin rashes, dizziness, nose bleeds, bleeding gums, and headache just to mention a few.

Mwende is now calling on the First Lady and well-wishers to fund her trip to India to get the medical attention that she so desperately needs.
