There has been a global burden of cancer, which calls for awareness to be raised on how to get quick diagnosis of this killer disease.
The American Institute of Cancer Research (AICR) has been on the forefront raising awareness about the disease. Here are most common cancer in women that the institute named after a research:
Breast Cancer: According to AICR, breast cancer causes 25.4% of cancer related deaths. The common symptoms of breast cancer include nipple turning inwards, lump in the breast, skin irritation, nipple discharge, swelling of part of a breast, and the breast skin may appear red. Breast cancer is the first most common type of cancer in women.
Colorectal Cancer: AICR says colorectal cancer is responsible for 9.7% of cancer related deaths. This makes it the second most dangerous cancer in women. Its symptoms include unexplained weight loss, blood in the stool, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain and unexplained cancer.
Lung Cancer: According to AICR, lung cancer is the third most dangerous cancer causing approximately 8.8% of cancer related deaths. Its symptoms include coughing up blood, wheezing, shortness of breath, loss of appetite, persistent coughing, difficulty in swallowing and recurrent lung infections such as pneumonia.
The AICR lists cervical cancer as the fourth most common cancer in women leading to approximately 6.9% of cancer related deaths. Some of its major symptoms include increased vaginal discharge, bleeding after menopause, bleeding after intercourse, and light bleeding between periods.
