Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu has appealed ruling barring him from office, saying it goes against the law.
According to Waititu, this bail term of him not stepping into his office is ”harsh and unjustified”.
Chief Magistrate Lawrence Mugambi gave Waititu a cash bail of Sh15 million or bond of Sh30 million with the terms that he should not step into his county offices.
“The terms and conditions of the bail can be equated to the constructive denial of bail without compelling reasons,” said Waititu’s lawyer, Tom Ojienda.
Prof Ojienda wants the High Court to determine if the effect of barring Mr Waititu from accessing his office is justified.
Waititu and his wife Susan Wangari have been charged with six counts over a Sh588 million irregular tender.
