65 passengers cheated death on Sunday evening after a bus they were travelling in burst into flames at Nyaravur Sub County, Nebbi district in northern Uganda.
The Koboko bound bus registration number UBB 991Y was from Kampala.
Confirming the incident Nebbi police station traffic boss, Rogers Amanya said the bus belonging to Gaagaa Bus Company caught fire after having a tire burst.
Amanya said police have launched a manhunt for the driver of the bus who went missing after the accident.
He added that only one of the sixty-five passengers was hurt during the accident.
“All the 65 passengers aboard escaped unhurt but the bus was completely burnt, while the driver Kayim Kayimbi is still on the run,” Amanya said.
Some sources attribute the cause of the fire to faulty wiring.
