Helb’s random emails raise hacking concerns

On Monday, a section of netizens received random emails from the Helb official account email.

The emails were sent informing people that their Helb accounts had been successfully created even though the receivers had not applied for a Helb account.

Helb later told people to ignore the emails in a follow up email. Netizens were left wondering if the student loans provider had been hacked and its system compromised.

They issued a statement denying that they had been compromised and said that the emails did not originate from their database.

We are yet to establish if this was genuine hack or just another phishing scam.
