President Uhuru Kenyatta has caught many people by surprise after the revelation that he has a Jamaican relative.
While addressing the press in Jamaica where he is currently on a state visit, the President revealed that his wife Margaret Kenyatta’s step-mother is of Jamaican origin.
“Mister Prime Minister was telling me that Jamaican diaspora is everywhere in almost every country on this earth. He was wondering about the possibility of whether there is a Jamaican diaspora in Kenya and I told him that I can confirm given the fact that my wife’s brother’s mother comes from Jamaica. She lives in Kenya and has lived there all her life,” said President Kenyatta amidst applause from the audience.
Uhuru further touched on other issues that benefit both Kenya and Jamaica, where together with Jamaica’s Prime Minister, Andrew Holmes, they looked at working towards deepening people-to-people relations and economic partnership between the two countries.
He landed in Jamaica on Monday together with the First Lady Margaret Kenyatta, for a 3-day state visit and is set to depart on Wednesday, August 6.
