A mother of two in Naivasha decided to commit suicide after she was diagnosed with breast cancer.
The 40-year-old woman ended her life by hanging herself in her sister’s residence in Kasarani estate.
The woman had been receiving treatment in other hospitals before she was told she had breast cancer.
Sources say the woman committed suicide after coming from a health check-up at Kenyatta National Hospital where she was told she had the disease.
According to her neighbors, the woman had earlier been misdiagnosed after she found a growth on one of her breasts until she learnt the truth at KNH.
The neighbours also said the woman was depressed and that she did not want to experience the pains she has seen cancer patients go through.
There have been calls by Kenyans to have cancer declared a national emergency after a rise in deaths caused by the disease.
In the recent past, Kenya has lost three prominent individuals to cancer. They include former Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore, ex-Kibera Member of Parliament Ken Okoth and former Bomet Governor Dr Joyce Laboso.
