Three suspected members of a gang which injured 13 residents of Bamburi Mwisho in Mombasa on Monday have been arrested.
The arrest of the three, who are suspected to belong to a machete wielding gang, has been confirmed by Kisauni police boss Julius Kiragu.
Paul Ayub, 18, Jackson Okelo, 26, and Ibrahim Mohamed Hamdan, 17, are being held at Kadzandani police station and will be arraigned today at Shanzu law courts.
Mombasa County Commissioner Evans Achoki had earlier said the government has deployed a multi-agency team to hunt down the gang, which is suspected to have 10 members.
Yesterday, County Police Commissioner Johnston Ipara said four of the 13 attacked by the gang are in critical condition and receiving treatment at Coast General Hospital.
The gang used machetes and guns to steal from stalls in Bamburi area, forcing some clubs that operate at night to close early.
Residents of Bamburi took to Twitter to express their dissatisfaction at how police handled the Bamburi gang attack.
